The Rajasthanis and Gujaratis who had moved in Chennai founded the Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College in 1964 with the goal of advancing higher education. The college's grand opening took place on June 30, 1964, with just one B.Sc. Mathematics course offered under the direction of Shri. Totadri Iyengar, a former student of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. For more than 50 years, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College has served as a shelter for numerous generations of eager students. Vaishnavism served as the foundation for the college, which was established with the primary aim of delivering high-quality education.

Scholarships for merit: The DG Vaishnav Merit Scholarship is given to students who received at least 90% of their possible points in their qualifying exams (10+2 or equivalent). The DG Vaishnav Endowment Scholarship is given to students who received at least 80% of their possible points in their qualifying exams (10+2 or equivalent). Need-based financial aid The DG Vaishnav Scholarship for Economically Weaker Students is given to students from low-income homes who achieved at least a 60% overall average in their qualifying exams (10+2 or equivalent). Scholarship for SC/ST Students from DG Vaishnav: Students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) category who received at least a 50% overall score in their qualifying exams are eligible for this scholarship.
