Maharashtra School Holiday Declared on July 26: Red Alert Issued for Mumbai
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued district-wise alerts for July 26, 2024, based on weather predictions. A Red Alert, indicating extremely heavy rain, has been issued for Mumbai. Alongside this, districts are under Orange, Yellow, and Green alerts, with the Orange alert signifying very heavy rain. It is anticipated that a school holiday will be declared in the affected districts due to these severe weather conditions. According to the IMD's update on the evening of July 25, no extreme rain is expected outside of the three red-alert districts. Based on today’s weather conditions, the following districts in Maharashtra have declared or are most likely to declare a school holiday on July 26, 2024:
Lonavala: The Municipal Administration has announced that schools in Lonavala will remain closed today due to heavy rain, particularly affecting hilly areas.
Pune City, Pimpri, and Chinchwad: Primary and secondary schools in these areas will be closed.
Mumbai: Schools are most likely to remain closed, though official confirmation is still pending. An extremely high rain warning has been issued until 8:30 AM today.
Palghar District (Wada and Vikramgarh talukas): Schools will remain closed today due to persistent heavy rain conditions.
Raigad: Both government and private schools will observe a holiday.
Thane: Schools are closed today and are likely to remain closed, pending a final update.
Vidarbha Region (Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and other yellow-alert districts): Schools are unlikely to be closed as only a yellow alert is in place.
